How to record video for CFD testing

Positioning:

  • Stand approximately 10 feet away from your subject.
  • Begin walking in a complete 360-degree circle around the subject.

Framing:

  • Keep the subject centered in your frame throughout the recording.
  • Focus especially on the front of the rider and bike, as these areas are key for wind resistance analysis.

Camera Movement:

  • Gradually vary your camera height as you move, raising and lowering it to capture multiple viewing angles.
  • Maintain smooth, steady movements for clear and consistent footage.

Lighting:

  • Use bright, even lighting conditions for best results.
  • Natural daylight is ideal, but avoid harsh shadows that may interfere with feature tracking.

Camera Settings:

  • Anything over 720p is acceptable. Try not to exceed 200mb.
  • Use recording options that minimize lens distortion for the clearest footage.

Consistency:

  • Maintain a consistent distance of about 10 feet throughout your circular path.
  • Ensure all necessary angles of the subject are captured to help the software generate accurate 3D reconstructions.
